Last week, we had a discussion about “Making fare for ambulances”.
The moderator told the present situation of the existing ambulance service. These days, there are more and more mobilizations of ambulances. According to the moderator, a man who called for ambulances instead of taxis for about 50 times was arrested for a petty crime. It is a terrible situation that there is not enough public ambulance service because of such abuses of ambulances. For people who really need an ambulance as quickly as possible, they cannot waste one minute or second for their lives. We have to do our best to find a solution for the burning issue.
The moderator brought an idea that making fare for ambulances. In Australia, citizens must pay 22 dollars for mobilizations of ambulances. They have to pay it once three months, in other words, four times a year. Then the moderator proposed one question that the users of ambulances need to pay 10.000 yen on one mobilization of an ambulance. For a bail-out plan, people who call for ambulances more than 5 times can receive the discount. If you call ambulances more than 5 times, you can get a discount on the total price by 30%.
After the discussion, we could make it to one consensus. It was a little bit expensive to pay 10.000 yen for one call for an ambulance, so it was got reduced to 5.000 yen. And, the payment was limited only to people who abuse the ambulance service. The judgment whether the call for ambulances was right or not was determined by doctor. As the moderator suggested, there was a bail-out plan for people who had chronic illnesses to discount the total price by 30%.
This problem has much to do with our lives. I think this solution would not give help for financial issue, but would finally reduce the abuses of ambulances. I hope there will be less unreasonable call with making fare for ambulances.
